• Course description:

The goal of this course is to introduce students to the basic principles in the field of environmental engineering. Students will learn to apply the principles of mass and energy balances and the background of chemical reactions and physical phenomena in engineering design. They will also discuss contemporary issues such as the relationships of water and energy, climate change and emerging contaminants (nanomaterials, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, etc.) and consider possible solutions to these problems. This introductory course will set the foundation for students who will direct their further education to the specialized field of environmental protection.
